Indiana Speaker Series – Sonny Side of Evansville; the Sonny Brown Collection – including Bull Island

This probably is the most widely reproduced picture ever to appear in the Evansville Courier.  It features Mesker Zoo animals Hippy, the hippopotamus and Bashful, the monkey.  The photo appeared in the Courier on December 15, 1961.  The picture has been used by other publications around the world and appeared on the back page of Life magazine on May 4, 1962.
