Technical Services Librarian

The Newburgh Chandler Public Library is looking for someone to create, add, and edit records to our integrated library system. Under the direction of the Library Director, this employee will ensure the library has up-to-date records of items in the collection and that our patrons can easily find and access these items.

The Newburgh Chandler Public Library is searching for a new team member to ensure our customers have an excellent experience searching and finding material at the Library. NCPL is a three branch library system serving the Ohio Township of Warrick County in Southwestern Indiana, which includes the towns of Newburgh and Chandler. The salary range for this position is $40,000-$43,680 depending upon experience.

Essential Functions
• Help to ensure our customers, staff and community receive the best experience possible at the library specifically through an organized collection and a user-friendly catalog.
• Manage all library technical services tasks, including cataloging and classifying library materials, maintaining an accurate, up-to-date database of library holdings and physically processing items being added and withdrawn from the collection
• Maintain consistency in the cataloging classification and physical processing of library materials
• Supervise the process of ordering and receiving of new materials
• Monitor the daily operation of the catalog and assist staff on any technical services matters
• Coordinate with library’s ILS to ensure correct and up-to-date information
• Hire, train, supervise and evaluate the technical services department staff
• Provide statistics on the collection to the administration
• Assist customers and staff with any questions using the library’s resources
• Maintain a cooperative and communicative relationship with other branches and administration
• Be an active member of the Administrative team
• Participate in conferences, webinars and other learning opportunities to stay abreast of library trends
• Promote good communication and positive thoughts and actions for customers, staff and the community
• Encourage and provide opportunities for staff development

Education and Experience
• College level coursework (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
• Management experience
• Experience working in libraries, technical services preferred
• Must obtain the appropriate level of state certification within Indiana State Library guidelines

Physical Requirements
