NCPL 2020 Community Reading Challenge

This summer let’s read together to support local charities!

Because of the pandemic, we’ve made some changes to our traditional Summer Reading Program. One change is that we will work as a community to log points that translate into monetary donations to four local charities: Warrick Trails, Warrick Humane Society, two local food pantries (the Newburgh Area Food Pantry and the Chandler United Methodist Church Food Pantry) and The Literacy Center.

How does it work?
We will have Challenge Bingo Cards for children, teens, and adults. Complete the number of activities indicated on the card, check the box identifying which charity you want your points to go to and turn in your card. The charity with the most points will receive $600, second place $400, third place $300 and fourth will receive $200. The Friends of the Newburgh Chandler Public Library have generously provided funding for this year’s challenge.

How do I get a Challenge Bingo Card?
There are several ways you can get your card. Cards will be available to print out below or on our Facebook page. You can also pick up a card at any branch of the library or ask for one using our curbside delivery service.

How Do I return my completed Challenge Bingo Card?
You can drop off your completed card at the service desk at any of our branches or return it to a curbside pickup location. You can also scan or take a photo of your card and email it to srp@ncplibraries.org.

Which Challenge Bingo Card category is right for me?
There are two levels of Children’s cards: Kids are for birth – gr. 2 and Tweens are for gr. 3-5. Teen cards are for anyone entering 6th through 12th grade and Adult cards are for anyone 18 years or older. Each age group will have four different cards and you can complete more than one Challenge Bingo Card for your age group. You can even complete the same card multiple times.

What are the dates of the Challenge?
The Challenge begins on July 8 and runs until August 10. We will keep the total number of points for each charity updated throughout the Challenge. We will also post information and links to each charity on our website, Facebook page and in our library.
