Bell Road Book Club This Tender Land

Join the Bell Road Book Club, Thurs. May 16 at 6:00 pm in the NCPL’s Makerspace, to discuss William Kent Krueger’s This Tender Land. Set in Depression-era Minnesota, this epic story features four young “vagabonds” who escape an oppressive Indian boarding school and embark by canoe on a perilous journey in search of a lasting home. In their travels, the four have a series of memorable adventures encountering hard-luck farmers, a traveling faith healer and her crusade, displaced families, and a diverse cross-section of humanity, both good and bad. This Tender Land is a moving exploration of many interesting themes including the meaning of family, freedom, and survival. Call 812-853-5468, ext. 316, to have us put the book or audio on hold.
