Summer Reading 2021

Tails and Tales, the 2021 Summer Reading Program is here! It is offered at  Bell Road Library and  Downtown Newburgh Library (Chandler Library will be closed through the summer for renovations.). Babies, kids, teens and adults can all participate in their age group’s Bingo Game. Kids will be voting for a new piece of equipment to add to each Kids’ Department for everyone to share.  Sign up anytime during Library hours. After signing up, check out books and audios, read/listen on your own time and come back to the library often to vote and pick up more Bingo cards.

In addition to the Bingo game, Kids’ Department will have a weekly challenge, beginning June 1. Pick up a challenge map from the Library, complete 6 of the 8 challenges and enter to win a family pass to Mesker Park Zoo. Challenges include a Make & Take craft from the Library, scavenger hunts, recipes to try at home, games to play, Library-produced YouTube videos featuring our librarians and information about each week’s theme and more!

We’ll also have 3 special outside events at Bell Road Library for kids, teens, adults and families, featuring games, activities and crafts.

Summer Reading Kick-Off—Sat., June 5, 11:00AM-1:00PM. Pick up Bingo cards for the whole family, make or take some crafts and join in on the weekly challenge scavenger hunt.

Pet Day—Sat., June 12, 9:30-11:00AM. Visit with adoptable pets from Warrick Humane Society, mix up a special treat for a pet, help make fleece blankets for shelter dogs and visit with our Library therapy dog!

Dinosaur Day—Thurs., June 17, 6:00-7:30PM. Visit with Beaux, the 8-foot dinosaur and his baby siblings. (Beaux will be here from 6:00-6:30 and 7:00- 7:30; babies will be here from 6::00-7:30.) Try out our Dinosaur Trivia to see if you are smarter than your kids, look for dinosaur bones in the fossil bed and measure yourself against dinosaur bones. We’ll have some crafts to make, too.
